Five Paragraphs

"The worst mistake anyone can make is being afraid to make one."
Making mistakes is a part of life and if things don't work out, you try again.
Dreamworks I'm sure has made many mistakes and they learned from it.
Here is some information on a couple things about Dreamworks and its journey.
You're probably wondering how did dreamworks animation come to be? Well, it started out as just regular Dreamworks but then they decided to branch out and create dreamworks animation. Which was a very good idea if I say so myself because they really took off with it. With films such as prince of egypt, antz, and shrek 1-4.
Dreamworks was the first animation company to produce a CG animated features in a single year. This included shrek 2, the highest grossing movie of all time. This is one of my favorite movies and animation is a big part of my life more than ever. Dreamworks is maybe not as big as pixar but I think that they can do just as much as they can.
Dreamworks has made many films and most of them are very well made. One of their films that was most popular was "Shrek." This film has had many sequels but the one that made most money was "Shrek 2."
The reason people went to see the second movie was because everyone thought that the first one was so good that they had to see if the second one would live up to the expectations. Then they found out it wasn't that good so the other movies didn't do so good.
So in conclusion, I have learned many things from this project about dreamworks that I didn't know before. I am glad I picked this as my topic and am more educated. Dreamworks is a very good organization and has made many good films and probably will make even more later in the year. Hopefully there will be many more "Shrek's" to come.

My helmets and my own picture

This is my altered helmet.

This is my tutorial heart.

I couldn't upload my finished helmet but I will try to upload it later

Maya Tutorials

The problems I ran into were that I couldn't figure out how to make the back of the heart the same shape of the front side. I had to fix the vertices from the front and back. What I learned from this tutorial was that I can use other parts of the heart such as faces or vertices. I remembered that when you have to move something and you want to use more than one part of the vertices you can just draw a box around it.

Maya Tutorial

I'm going to be creating a heart on maya. Im going to do it by creating a cube and start to shape the cube into a heart by moving the vertices down that way the shape becomes a heart. I picked this shape because the tutorial was easy to understand and I know how to use each of the tools to make the heart.

Why do you change the settings on maya?

When we change the settings so that the shape that we make is set to the other shapes you already have. I think the multiple edge loops will give you more than two loops on your helmet. The number of edge loops will give a number of four loops on the helmet. The auto complete will not stop the looping from stopping immediately.

What did you learn today?

The first thing I learned how to do today was how to use the Append to polygon tool. By using that tool we connected the shield to the jawline. We did that by going to edit mesh and clicking on the append to polygon tool and box. We also used the split polygon tool. We used that in our mask by going to the split polygon tool and using the vertical and horizontal splits. This also creates the vertices for the mask.

My 3D figure

I chose a picture of sunglasses to make my figure. I chose sunglasses because when I was little I used to think some sun glasses were just so fabulous and beautiful and you could just hide behind them whenever you wanted. I think the hard part will be to get the exact measurements and making the thin part of the glasses just perfect. I hope that when I complete the sunglasses it looks just like the picture

Animation Journal

3 things I learned: The first thing that I learned how to do was how to bridge two things together
The second thing I learned how to do was I learned how to extrude a shape
The third and last thing I learned how to do was to combine both shapes such as the helmet and the jaw together so they are considered one shape.

2 challenges: The first challenge was remembering to save it each time and to put the name to save it by.
The second challenge was trying to bridge the jaw and the helmet together because I had to get the exact amount of lines which is five and making sure I had all those or else it would not bridge.

1 resolution: I finally selected all the amount of edges and got the jawline and the helmet to finally bridge together

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Where are you at and what is the problem?

I am trying to bridge my jaw line and the helmet together. The problem I am having is that the border edges are not connecting, the help line is saying that I do not have the right amount of edges selected. I have to have five edges and I already do but for some reason just the edges will not connect. I hope that I can get the edges to connect by tomorrow because I really need to finish this helmet.

What is it going to look like??

I think my doodle will look like maybe the word HELP because a physical therapist helps people the H could be a cross as in the red cross. The letter E could be bandages all put together to shape the letter E each bandage will be a line in the E. The letter L could be shaped as a leg wrapped up in a cast as if the leg were broken. Lastly the letter P could be represented by a crooked lollipop with the round part of the lollipop being the round part of the P and the stick being the line of the P, because when little kids come in you always see a doctor or someone around those lines giving a little kid a lollipop to make them feel better. That is how I picture my doodle for google being.

What i would like to do......

I think that when I leave high school I would really love to be either a speech pathologist or a physical therapist. Speech pathology really interests me because some of the people who do this work with the kids in the school. It would be really nice to have the breaks just like the children and personally I can work good with kids and I have a lot of patience. I also want to be a physical therapist because I am a football manager and I also want to help people when they either break a leg or hurt something. I know someone that broke their ankle into 3 places and she has to go to physical therapy so she can learn how to walk on her leg again. I know that this school doesn't have a trainer but I know that when I get out of school I will succeed.

My 3D Ice Cream Cone

I think my animation turned out easier than I thought it would be. I thought the cone was going to be a great challenge but I ended up finishing a lot faster than I thought I would. I just thought I was going to get stuck with getting the cone into the center. In the end the ice cream cone was a lot easier than I thought. I'm glad that I decided on making an ice cream cone because it showed me how to use the basics of maya. So the ice cream cone was fairly easy but I'm glad I did it.

Elements: How I created my Ice Cream Cone

(SIDE NOTE: I HAVE TO MAKE THE X AND Z AXIS ALL ZERO AND MAKE SURE ALL THE PARTS ARE ALL ALIGNED!!!)
1. First I create the cone by going to the polygon tab and clicking the cone and I have to rotate it 180 degrees so that it sits upside down.
2. I create the first circle on top of the cone and scale the circle so that it is squashed down and looks like a scoop of ice cream.
3. Again I create the circle but I have to make it slightly smaller than the first "scoop" and I do the same process
4. I do the same procedure as 4 and 5.
5. The last thing I need to do it create the cherry. I do that by making my small circle and setting it on tope of the ice cream cone by using the move tool.

Proposal for my Ice Cream Cone

In maya I will be creating an Ice Cream Cone. I will be putting an upside down cone, and three squashed circles. I will have to turn over the cone and scale the circles so that each one can be smaller than the other. I will be stacking all the elements on top of the cone and topping off with a cherry. I hope that this turns out the way that I plan it to come out and all of the elements fit right in to place.

What I did in class today

I learned how to squash the sphere by the x, y and z axis. I also learned how to group the columns and duplicate the column to make the exact same one. Next I learned how to put the sphere in a different place by rotating it 90 degrees and putting it in a different spot or also known as translating it. Another thing I learned how to do is putting two views of the screen or also called the layout. The last thing I learned is hyper-graph hierarchy and it shows all the different groups that we have in the grid.

Rotate and Pedestal

The way you you do it is by your translate y and your width, height, and your depth. W, H, D, help you create the shape. Next, you enter the number on the translate y section and it will be put on the grid you want it to go. Then maya will determine the spot of the shape where you want it to go, but you have to make sure that you highlight the object before you start.

3 Questions

1. What are we going to end up with when we are done with the building?
2. Why do you make a duplicate special?
3. How are we going to make a cube?
