My 3D Ice Cream Cone

I think my animation turned out easier than I thought it would be. I thought the cone was going to be a great challenge but I ended up finishing a lot faster than I thought I would. I just thought I was going to get stuck with getting the cone into the center. In the end the ice cream cone was a lot easier than I thought. I'm glad that I decided on making an ice cream cone because it showed me how to use the basics of maya. So the ice cream cone was fairly easy but I'm glad I did it.

Elements: How I created my Ice Cream Cone

(SIDE NOTE: I HAVE TO MAKE THE X AND Z AXIS ALL ZERO AND MAKE SURE ALL THE PARTS ARE ALL ALIGNED!!!)
1. First I create the cone by going to the polygon tab and clicking the cone and I have to rotate it 180 degrees so that it sits upside down.
2. I create the first circle on top of the cone and scale the circle so that it is squashed down and looks like a scoop of ice cream.
3. Again I create the circle but I have to make it slightly smaller than the first "scoop" and I do the same process
4. I do the same procedure as 4 and 5.
5. The last thing I need to do it create the cherry. I do that by making my small circle and setting it on tope of the ice cream cone by using the move tool.

Proposal for my Ice Cream Cone

In maya I will be creating an Ice Cream Cone. I will be putting an upside down cone, and three squashed circles. I will have to turn over the cone and scale the circles so that each one can be smaller than the other. I will be stacking all the elements on top of the cone and topping off with a cherry. I hope that this turns out the way that I plan it to come out and all of the elements fit right in to place.

Questions for Today

Attribute Editor

1. WHAT IS THE ATTRIBUTE EDITOR?

It provides information about the various nodes and attributes for the objects materials in you scene.

2. HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE CHANNEL BOX?

It provides a more detailed display of all attributes for a selected piece

3. HOW DO YOU VIEW AN OBJECT’S ATTRIBUTES?

You have to go the attribute editor and click the show and hide icon on the status bar.

4. WHAT DOES EACH TAB REPRESENT?

Each tab represents a node

5. THE FIRST TAB IS LABELED AS THE OBJECT’S NAME IS KNOWN AS WHICH NODE? WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE OF THIS TAB?

It is the templeroof tab and it contains the control of the templeroof's transformation

6. DESCRIBE THE PURPOSE OF THE SHAPE NODE.

it shapes the geometric shape or physical properties when the object is first created.

7. DESCRIBE THE PURPOSE OF THE INPUT NODE.

It is concerning the objects construction history.

8. DESCRIBE THE INITIAL SHAPING GROUP AND LAMBERT NODES.

Pertains to the default shading of the material for an object.

Surface Materials

1. WHAT DO THE SURFACE MATERIALS CONTROL?

Color, shininess, and reflectivity attributes of an object.

2. WHAT ARE TWO OTHER NAMES FOR THE SURFACE MATERIAL?

shader or shading material.

3. HOW DO YOU ASSIGN A NEW MATERIAL TO AN OBJECT?

You go to your main menu and select lighting/ shading > assign new material and the New material window pops up

4. HOW DO YOU EDIT THE SHADING MATERIAL’S COLOR ATTRIBUTES

You click on the attribute editor in the gray box to the right of the word color.

Test Questions

Template Display

1. WHEN DO YOU USE TEMPLATE DISPLAY?

You use template display when the scene becomes more complex.

2. WHAT DOES TEMPLATING THE DISPLAY ALLOW YOU TO DO?

Templating the display allows you to to select only objects that you want.

3. HOW DOES THE OBJECT CHANGE WHEN YOU TEMPLATE THE DISPLAY?

when you template the display the wireframe changes to a gray color.

4. HOW DOES THE TEMPLATE DISPLAY HELP YOU?

It helps you when you only want certain thing selected.

6. HOW DO YOU UNTEMPLATE A TEMPLATED OBJECT?5. HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE DISPLAY OF OBJECTS TO TEMPLATE MODE?

you select the hierarchy and combinations and drag a box around it. To template it

7. HOW DID YOU WORK WITH TEMPLATE DISPLAY IN THE LAST LESSON?

Components

1. WHAT IS A COMPONENT?

they allow you to work with objects at a finer level and allow you to edit them in creative ways

2. GIVE THREE EXAMPLES OF A COMPONENT.

Control Vertices, faces and hulls.

3. WHAT DOES A COMPONENT ALLOW YOU TO DO IN MAYA?

allow you to work with objects at a finer level and allow you to edit them in creative ways,

4. WHAT ARE THE STEP TO SELECT A COMPONENT OF AN OBJECT?

side view, selection mode, right click wireframe to select control vertex

5. HOW DID YOU WORK WITH COMPONENTS IN THE LAST LESSON?

Problems you run into

I was absent on friday and did not receive the handout. I was at the orthodontist

What I did in class today

I learned how to squash the sphere by the x, y and z axis. I also learned how to group the columns and duplicate the column to make the exact same one. Next I learned how to put the sphere in a different place by rotating it 90 degrees and putting it in a different spot or also known as translating it. Another thing I learned how to do is putting two views of the screen or also called the layout. The last thing I learned is hyper-graph hierarchy and it shows all the different groups that we have in the grid.

Rotate and Pedestal

The way you you do it is by your translate y and your width, height, and your depth. W, H, D, help you create the shape. Next, you enter the number on the translate y section and it will be put on the grid you want it to go. Then maya will determine the spot of the shape where you want it to go, but you have to make sure that you highlight the object before you start.

3 Questions

1. What are we going to end up with when we are done with the building?
2. Why do you make a duplicate special?
3. How are we going to make a cube?

Maya

1. I learned how to create a sphere on the grid by going to the tab named surfaces, click on it and choose your shape
2. I learned to change the color by going to rendering and clicking the paintbrush with the sphere.
3. I learned how to move the object from side to side by clicking the manipulator tool and clicking the arrows and moving it
4. I learned how to put fur onto the sphere by clicking the fur tab and choosing the fur that you want
5. I learned how to deform the sphere by going to deformation tab and clicking which way you want the object to lean or fall

S.M.A.R.T.

Specific
*A goal I have is to go to college and pursue the career that I've wanted to go into, which is Physical Therapy.
*My goal is to get good grades in school and get into college get my masters and look for a physical therapy job and start off as an assistant and work my way up.
Measure
* I'm going to go to college and get my masters, which means I am going to go to school for eight years or more to pursue my career in Physical therapy.
Action
* I'm going to research my career, study more out of school instead of just inside of class. Get a job that will help me get a little practice in the field.
Reasonable
*I will probably not be a physical therapist without any type of schooling
Timely-
* I will finish high school in 2013 and enroll into college in 2014
* I will take the courses that will benefit the career I have chosen

* My goal is to finish school and go to college and study my profession of physical therapy. When I graduate in 2013 I will wait a year and enroll in college in 2014, so that I have enough time off to figure out what courses I need to take. When I get to to college I will research more on my career. I am going to try to get my masters as best as I can.n That will be my goal to pursue my career
